Moritz Designs's Fun Page
This is a very new page, and we don't really have our projects web-ized yet, but here is a preview of things to come.
- Team Moritz Designs Racing Lawnmower... How fast can you mow grass? We'll have pictures of our sponsored racing mower as well as all the specs of the highly-modified 11-hp Briggs engine. This thing rocks!
- Pneumatic rifled-barrel potato gun. Sure, potato guns are fun, but they aren't really that powerful, are they? Well, go check out the AWESOME pneumatic gun at The Pneumatic Spud Gun page. We started out with this excellant air-powered gun and found it is far superior to the hairspray-powered ones and is capable of over 600 yard shots. Our gun shoots potatos through 3/4" thick boards! How do you make it better? We're now finding out... We are working on rifling the pvc barrel to improve accuracy, as well as some other experiments to increase power.
- The Solar Incinerator. With all those old, huge satelite dishes not being used any more, we had to think of a new use. Well, coat it with aluminum foil (shiny side up ;)) and you have a huge reflective lense to FRY stuff with. We have started fires, burned holes in wooden blocks, and even cooked food with ours. Now, if we can just come up with a constuctive use...
- Moritz Designs started out as a fine woodworking shop, and we built some rather impressive wooden art objects. One project, a Chess Table, was worked on over a 4-year period. We have a box, made of Texas Ebony and various other woods, which is STILL not finished.
- Brady's 1973 Porsche 914-- Buick 3.8L V-6 conversion job. Yes, it uses a conversion kit, but it is still cool. Fast car ;) We have been bitten by the engine conversion bug, and thus plan to develop a kit to transplant a Chevy 350ci V-8 into a little Mercedes 190-E. Luxury and performance combined.
- We have conducted various hi-voltage experiments over the years, including a large plasma lamp. Goal-- to build a 1-million volt Tesla Coil. We also plan to experiment with super-capacitors and electrical explosions.
- If we can find some pictures, we'll put on some of Colin's freaky projects from his youth... like the automatic fly swatter which had an electric-eye to trigger the mousetrap-powered swatter, and then reset itself... or the electromechanical-nightmare bicycle automatic transmission which actually worked!
- How bout an motorized toilet paper holder? Colin built this prank years ago while Brady was gone, and pulled it on him when he got home. Try to take some paper off when you are in the restroom, and it takes off spinning! We scared many unsuspecting friends with this one. We hate to admit it, but we even have plans available for this one. It even has a variable timer built in to shut off after a defined amount of time. If you actually want plans for this, mail us a $5 bill and we'll send them to you. Oh, the address is Moritz Designs, 558-A Moritz Lane, Victoria, TX 77905-2555.
We have many other interesting projects that will be added here later (as we remember or finish them. ;))
